Candy was working one day and an incident occurred where his hand needed to be amputated. Candy was given a $250 compensation bonus and when he was able, he went back to work. A similar situation happened to a man named Crooks, where his back was severely injured and still going back to work when able. These two men now have sever disabilities that impede their work abilities. If either of them were to get fired, how are they suposed to live and support themselves.

Lennie has lived  his whole life with a disability. His aunt Clara cared for him in his younger years and now he works and travels with his best friend George. Lennie is cognitively challenged and is often compared to a child because of the way he acts, and how he always gets in trouble. People either don't realize that Lennie is cognitively challenged or don't realize that being cognitively challenged has struggles, because of this people often think Lennie is a bad person.
